This is a draft awaiting legal review. It describes how Anchorcite works today, but it is not yet a final document.
1. Who we are
Anchorcite is a research workspace. This policy explains what we collect when you use the website, the free tools and your account, and what we do with it.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from them.
- Security settings: two-factor authentication secrets and recovery codes, stored encrypted, and the public keys of any passkeys you add.
- Messages you send us through the contact forms, including any institution and role you give.
- Your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and whether you confirmed the subscription.
- What you paste into the free tools, only for as long as it takes to answer (see below).
- Technical data: your IP address, used to limit abuse of the free tools and sign-in, and server logs of errors.
3. How we use it
To run your account and keep it secure, to answer your messages, to send the newsletter you asked for, and to stop abuse. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
5. How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is open and removed when you delete it. The reference checker does not save your list to any account; answers from Crossref and OpenAlex are cached for up to a week under a one-way fingerprint of what was looked up.
6. Your rights
You can see and correct your details in Settings, delete your account at any time, and unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any newsletter email. To ask for a copy of your data, write to us.
